Small biz success thanks to Visit KCK's Taco Trail

Nearly four months since Visit Kansas City Kansas (Visit KCK) launched the KCK Taco Trail, the organization is overwhelmed by the positive response to, and success of, its first mapped-out, locally-owned small business endeavor.

Since October 2020, the KCK Taco Trail has seen more than 4,000 restaurant check-ins. Visit KCK has also awarded 234 total prizes to trail participants, a handful of which have even completed the entire trail.

Supporting the locally-owned businesses is made simple with a mapped-out trail of the best taquerias in Kansas City, Kan., ranging from authentic Mexican to Tex-Mex.

“The response from community members and restaurant owners has been incredible, and we’re not even halfway into the deadline for completing the trail yet,” said Alan Carr, the executive director at Visit Kansas City Kansas.

“The majority of the restaurants on the KCK Taco Trail offer carryout options. So, diners who prefer tacos to-go can still check-in at participating restaurants when picking up their food and continue to earn rewards,” Carr said.

Locals and visitors alike can visit www.kcktacotrail.com to sign up for the KCK Taco Trail and have until Oct. 31, 2021, to check-in at participating restaurants for the chance to win prizes.

The KCK Taco Trail not only maps out where to find the most authentic tacos in KCK, but gives diners the chance to win prizes starting at just five restaurant check-ins. Available prizes include the following:

  • Check into five restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail decal

  • Check into 15 restaurants to receive Spicin Foods Tradición salsa

  • Check into 30 restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail t-shirt

  • Check into all restaurants to receive a KCK Taco Trail Championship Flag and have your name included on the Taco Trail Wall of Fame

To view a full list of the 50+ restaurants on the KCK Taco Trail visit www.kcktacotrail.com, or follow Visit KCK on Facebook at www.facebook.com/VisitKansasCityKS and Instagram at @visitkansascityks.

Visit KCK plans to introduce two new mapped-out trails this year to showcase the unique neighborhoods, communities and personalities throughout Kansas City, Kansas.
