Kansas City-based nbkc bank is reopening its Leawood, Kan. branch in partnership with Shop Local KC to create a unique, local banking experience.
Located at 3510 95th St., the shared space features the work of local artists and retailers as well as Shop Local KC’s full marketplace of offerings; apparel, accessories, home goods, artwork and other unique retail items supplied by local creators.
“We are committed to giving back and supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in Kansas City and throughout the nation. That’s why we decided to partner with a local, woman-owned small business that champions Kansas City entrepreneurs,” said Melissa Eggleston, nbkc’s chief deposit officer, executive vice president.
nbkc’s location in the Ranch Mart North shopping center, which the bank has occupied since 1999, recently underwent a series of upgrades to modernize its appearance.
The 1,850-SF branch space, designed by architecture and interior design firm Multistudio (formerly Gould Evans), features an 800-SF patio and a large custom bar, as well as high ceilings and enlarged windows to fill the space with natural light.
Shop Local KC’s space inside of nbkc is its second location in the KC area since opening its original store in Midtown in July 2021.
“Growing up in the Ranch Mart area, it’s a dream come true to open my second Shop Local KC retail store in Johnson County in this specific area, and it would not be possible without the support from nbkc bank,” said Katie Mabry van Dieren, owner of Shop Local Kansas City.
The new store will operate as a full marketplace with art, gifts, clothing, accessories, flowers and more.
“The alignment of their mission to support local businesses through banking and Shop Local KC’s mission to create a space for locally-owned makers and artists to showcase and sell their products is a perfect fit, and we look forward to offering a truly unique experience for the community to find gifts, flowers and more at this shop.”
