Celebrating Success: Luke Draily completes 13th Whole Foods project in Overland Park

In a remarkable feat of construction prowess, Luke Draily Construction proudly announces the completion of the 13th Whole Foods Market project, strategically positioned at 11900 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, Kan. The grand opening on November 15, 2023 marked the culmination of an intricate and collaborative effort, showcasing a stunning 45,791-SF store built from the ground up.

The project comprised two integral parts: the first involved the construction of the building shell, skillfully completed for the landlord of Overland Crossing, Legacy Development. The second part encompassed the tenant Improvement interior finish for Whole Foods Market, solidifying the enduring relationship between Luke Draily and Whole Foods since 2008.

The newly improved Overland Park location highlights the customer-centric approach, incorporating thoughtful features such as ample parking, expanded aisles, and impeccable workmanship, designed with the customer's convenience in mind. The store stands out as a prominent anchor for the retail development at the intersection of three major thoroughfares, creating a compelling destination for residents and shoppers alike.

"Whole Foods asked if we could be open by the holiday season. In turn, we asked our team and trade partners to deliver for us and they did. The communication, work ethic, dedication and quality of work amongst the team was A+ based upon the aggressive completion schedule that Whole Foods requested for the project," said Bob Becker, president of Luke Draily.

Notably, a potential crisis was averted on the eve of the grand opening when it was discovered that Evergy planned to cut power and replace damaged lines at 5 a.m. on the day of the grand opening. Thanks to the swift action of senior project manager Greg Boice and the collaboration with trade partner Foley Equipment, a generator was on-site by 7 p.m. the night before, ensuring the store did not lose power and valuable products were preserved.

The Luke Draily team expressed heartfelt appreciation to its dedicated team members and trade partners who worked tirelessly, including Beacon Contracting, Higgings Group, Fixture Contracting, Foley Equipment Co., Switzer Brothers Painting, Midland Marble, Treadwell, Questec Mechanical, MC Electric and MJC Electric.

In a press release, Whole Foods Market highlighted the new store's features including over 750 local products, an upgraded coffee bar, and expanded indoor and outdoor seating.

"We are thrilled to continue serving the wonderful community of Overland Park with this new, larger location," said Melissa Arnett, store team leader for Whole Foods Market.

The successful completion of the Whole Foods Market in Overland Park stands as a testament to Luke Draily's commitment to excellence, collaboration and delivering outstanding results within demanding timelines. The newly opened store promises to be a vibrant hub for the community, offering a diverse array of high-quality products and a welcoming shopping experience for years to come.
