Anderson Engineering rebrands to OWN to celebrate employee ownership

JERROD HOGAN, PLS, OWN CEO

Anderson Engineering, a renowned engineering firm, has changed its name to OWN, effective today, and rebranded to highlight the power of its successful business culture built on 100 percent employee ownership. With over 230 employees across ten offices, the rebranding reflects the firm's significant growth over the years, with the share price doubling twice.

According to Jerrod Hogan, PLS, Chief Executive Officer of OWN, the new name reflects the firm's ability to tap into the power of true employee ownership and deliver creative problem-solving and services that go beyond the expected.

"Building on that success, the shift to OWN felt natural," Hogan said. "Regardless of the project, scope or location, the OWN team adds above and beyond value at every turn. We call this, 'Engineering beyond.'"

OWN serves various sectors, including commercial, healthcare, education, residential, industrial, hospitality, sports and entertainment, federal/military, state, county, municipal, transportation and utility sectors. With offices in more than 40 states, the firm provides services such as civil and structural engineering, land surveying, field services and related subdisciplines.

The Kansas City office has provided surveying and engineering services for various local projects since its establishment in 2016, including site design for additions to the Ford Assembly Plant in Claycomo, a new building at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Mo. and the Smokey River Entertainment District in River Bend, Mo.

“Our firm builds futures for our clients, our partners, and the communities we serve. And everyone knows when the stakes are high, you ask to see the owner…we just happen to have 230 of them and counting,” said Hogan. “Our first principle is that ‘Owners do it Better.’ We’ve structured the firm in a way that respects, trusts, and empowers our employee-owners to do what’s best for our clients. This bears itself out in a culture built on responsiveness, creative problem-solving, mutual success and having a little fun along the way. To us - it’s more than a business structure or a tagline; it's a culture we’re so committed to that we’ve staked our name on it.”

OWN, which is headquartered in Springfield, Mo., has a strong presence in the state with five other offices located in Joplin, Monett, Carthage, Kansas City and Columbia. The firm also has offices in Rogers, Ark. and three markets in Florida, including Pensacola, Destin and Milton. In addition to these locations, OWN is expanding its operations with a new office set to open in Overland Park, Kan. this summer.

Founded in 1954 as Tri-Lakes Concrete Company, the firm has undergone several name changes over the years and operated as Anderson Engineering since 1977. It became employee-owned in 1998.
