MWM: As a construction company with a rich history, how has Miller Stauch adapted to and navigated through the evolving trends and challenges in the commercial real estate market over the years?

Duane Dean: Commercial Construction is an ever-evolving industry that is never consistent. We have had to adapt and change to stay current with market trends. But ultimately, it's our focus on our clients and their needs.

MWM: The construction industry has witnessed significant technological advancements. How has Miller Stauch embraced innovation to stay competitive, enhance efficiency, and deliver top-notch projects to clients?

Greg Dean: Construction lived in the dinosaur ages of technology for a long time. Over the past decade, our industry has seen vast improvements in making construction more tech-savvy. Miller Stauch has adapted well by onboarding top management programs.

MWM: Looking back at a century of construction projects, are there any iconic or particularly memorable structures that Miller Stauch is especially proud to have been a part of? Can you share some insights into those projects?

Duane Dean: For being around for 100 years, its impressive that there are very few areas in KC that we have not built. It is hard to drive 10 minutes in any direction and not run into a Miller Stauch-built building. Some of these include GreenLease Cadillac (1923), Ford Automotive Plant (1956), J.C Nichols Fountain (1958), GM Leeds Plant (1973), KC NCAA Headquarters Building (1974), North Patrol Division (Bumblebee Building) (1976), Bankers Square/95 Metcalf (1984), Silpada HQ (2003), Community America Credit Union Headquarters (2006), Deer Creek Woods (2008), Boulevard Brewing Canning Line (2017), and Masters Transportation Headquarters (2024).

MWM: With a hundred years of experience, what values and principles have been instrumental in shaping the company's culture, and how do these values translate into the way Miller Stauch interacts with clients and partners in the real estate sector?

Duane Dean: Transparency and honesty, coming to work with a can-do attitude; welcoming creativity in the workspace, successfully achieving our client's goals, and delivering a successful project has helped Miller Stauch in the long run with industry relationships.

MWM: Kansas City has undoubtedly undergone transformations over the past century. How has Miller Stauch Construction Co. played a role in shaping the local landscape, and what contributions has the company made to the community over the years?

Duane Dean: Over the past century, we have witnessed significant growth in all types of construction, whether it's retail, office, or industrial. We are proud of the projects that we have built, which are landmark buildings within KC. Miller Stauch also takes pride in the religious, charitable, and social service organizations we are involved in. We always welcome employees to get as involved in our community as much as they would like to with the backing of Miller Stauch.

MWM: Greg, as the Director of Sales, what do you believe sets Miller Stauch Construction Co. apart in terms of its approach to client relationships and project delivery, and how do these factors contribute to the company's longevity and success?

Greg Dean: Miller Stauch, being a Kansas City-based General Contractor with deep Kansas City relationships, allows our company to be more competitive. We have the ability to take on large projects while having the small company feel of ownership and top leadership involved in every step of the construction process. We treat every project like it's our own.

MWM: In the next era of construction, what does Miller Stauch envision for the future, and how does the company plan to stay at the forefront of industry trends and innovations for the next 100 years?

Greg Dean: Remaining focused on what got us to the first 100 years is essential. That includes continuing to navigate and adapt as our industry evolves while building on Miller Stauch's already strong team.
