Sunflower, LISC debut east side senior housing project

The former Faxon School has been converted to a 40-unit senior housing facility.

In about two weeks, a new affordable senior housing development will debut in Kansas City’s east side. Thanks to Greater Kansas City LISC, Sunflower Development Group and the Pioneer Group, the former Faxon School at 37th Street and Paseo Boulevard has been converted into 45 new senior housing units.

The development will serve area residents age 55 and older, offering rents ranging from $530 to $630 a month. The project was made possible by LISC capital and Low Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits.

The new facility will be unveiled at a February 19 grand opening event.
