LANE4 highlights retail sector activity

LANE4 Property Group has released its 2016 Retail Report. The annual report details the progress of new shopping centers and developments across the Kansas City metro, including lease and vacancy rates and retailer expansions.

The commercial real estate firm focused this year’s report on a particularly active sector of the market: food establishments. Whether it’s fast casual restaurants or specialty grocers, this subcategory of retailer is the darling of the commercial real estate world.

The report also notes the necessity for retailers to embrace their online presence in addition to their physical presence.

“In order to get full market share, retailers must have both a solid physical location as well as a relevant internet setting,” the report reads. “It is commonplace for retailers today to limit resources invested in physical expansion, instead focusing heavily on their online sales channels where the greatest opportunity for growth lies.”
